Working as a freelance photographer with the Iowa Wild allowed me to refine my ability to tell powerful, real-time stories through a visual lens. In a fast-paced, high-energy hockey environment, I was responsible for capturing moments that not only documented the game, but translated its emotion, intensity, and personality to fans both in-arena and online.

From game action and player celebrations to behind-the-scenes details and community moments, I focused on creating imagery that felt authentic and immersive. My work supported the team’s digital, marketing, and promotional efforts—delivering high-quality photos under tight deadlines for immediate use across social media, web, and other platforms.

This role pushed me to anticipate moments before they happened, adapt quickly to the flow of the game, and consistently produce content that aligned with the team’s brand and storytelling goals. It strengthened both my technical skills and my creative eye, while deepening my understanding of how impactful visual content can elevate fan engagement and enhance the overall game experience.

Through this experience, I learned that great sports photography goes beyond action shots—it captures emotion, builds connection, and helps fans feel like they’re part of every moment.
